There are currently 3 seminars that we are offering:

If you are interested in someone from the EBD committee coming to your church to run one of these seminars, please contact us through our email: equalbutdifferent@gmail.com to make further arrangements.

  1. BACK TO THE BEGINNING    I     Lesley Ramsay

So much of what the New Testament says about the relationships of men and women are grounded in Genesis 1-3. So, in this seminar we go 'back to the beginning'. The seminar method is inductive ie participants will engage directly with the Genesis texts to discern what God is saying, rather than being presented with fully formed ideas.

2. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CHRISTIAN WOMAN OR CHRISTIAN MAN?   I    Sarah Sholl and Heather Veitch

In a world that is full of confusion about gender it’s hard to hold onto Biblical priorities that seem out of step with the world. This seminar aims to help us to be solidly grounded on a biblical framework of what it means to be a Christian man or a Christian woman. By examining Genesis, Ephesians and 1 Timothy we come to see that man is to be a responsible head, and woman an essential helper. When we hold closely the wider context of God’s work in saving sinners and bringing all things under the headship of Christ, we can see the beauty of living as gendered people in complementary unity.

3. FOLLOWING JESUS IN A FEMINIST WORLD     I        Avril Lonsdale

Whether you realise it or not, feminism is the air we breathe. From the songs on the radio, to the videos on our TikTok fyp, or the clothes we can buy and the movies we watch on Netflix – they’re all shaped by feminism. But what even is feminism? What does it stand for? And what does God think about it? This elective is for everyone who wants to think about what the Bible has to say about men and women and the inequality we see in our world.
